El Rancho Mexican Restaurant in Gaylord

The restaurant is cute and colorful and the service was good. The food was good but a bit bland. The prices were on the higher side but I think maybe that's just typical of places in this area. It's a decent option if you are trying to avoid chain restaurants or fast food places. I wouldn't make a special trip to go back, but if I'm staying in the area again, I would probably eat here again.

Excellent food, little higher priced for what you get but endless chips and salsa. Very good. Owner is fantastic too!

We just had dinner here and the food and service was awesome!! I am very sensitive to spices(which I hate because I love the smell and taste of Mexican food) and the waiter let me know what was safe. I felt healthy eating the Burrito Vallarta as long as the Mango Sauce was on the side. The sauces can be used to spice up dishes. The waiter was very friendly and food was served fast and hot. We were told the plates were hot ahead of time. Looking forward to going back!!

Outstanding food! This is an awesome, family-owned restaurant that serves authentic Mexican food. The flavours are outstanding (flavoured with spices and not just salt), and the portions are also huge. Definitely coming back again!

Friendly service however terrible food. By far the worst tasting mexican food i have ever had. Place wasn't clean and even the sprite tasted dirty. Definitely would not go back

A bit deceiving from the outside! Looks "smaller" (IMO)... but, large and nicely laid out once inside. Our food was EXCELLENT, and our waiter... OUTSTANDING! Highly recommend!!

The worst Mexican food I have ever tasted. The tamale was too sweet (corn flour) and there was hardly any meat (see photo). Definitely not "authentic" as I live in San Antonio, TX. The shredded chicken burrito had so much water, I literally had to squeeze and strain into my dry rice just to eat it. I would not return from this one time experience. I do not like to leave bad reviews, However in good conscious I can not recommend the tamales or the chicken burrito. Others in the party said their meals tasted good.

Great authentic Mexican food. I was shown this place several years ago by a friend that drove semi trucks. Now I bring others here when we take trips 'up north' near this area. We come here every time we are in the area, usually on golfing and snowmobiling trips. The burritos are awesome and the margaritas good too! I highly recommend this place. Don't make the mistake of trying the 'Mexican' place down the street, it's not even close to this.

Everything was great! The fajitas, salsa, and quesadilla were all delicious. The service was quick and friendly.

My family loves it but I had a different experience. They messed up our order but fixed it at closing time... but then forgot the sides for our other dishes.. imo it was iffy but again the fam loves it

Easily the best Mexican restaurant in Northern Michigan!! Large menu selection. Everything is made fresh. Service is very good. Great Margaritas too!! Been there dozens of times and never a bad experience.

The food here was perfectly delicious! A great selection for everyone. Our server was amazing at answering our questions and making sure we were never in want of anything. It is the best place to get Mexican food in Gaylord.

Best restaurant ive ever been to hands down

Service was good however the food was not authentic. Ordered tacos de carne asada, the tacos came out on flour tortillas should have been corn and no cilantro/onions or lime.

Many people that give this restaurant a poor rating, don't understand that the food is very close to authentic NOT Taco Bell. The food is excellent!

Very fast service. Friendly staff. The food was good. Kids menu available for those picky eaters. It is as close to authentic Mexican food as I have had up here. Worth it to eat here if you want Mexican food. Plus the kids chicken was pretty good too.

Expensive for what we ordered (lunch specials!), the service was a little slow for a restaurant that wasn't crowded and the food was the blandest Mexican we'd had in recent memory - thank you Cholula sauce!

The food was really good. Their menu was huge so it would be easy for anyone to find someone they would like. I got a burrito with a spicy mango sauce that was delicious and really flavorful. The service was really nice, especially when I spoke in Spanish.

Best mexican resturaunt I have ever been to. I am mexican and know authentic Mexican food el rancho is where it's at! The owner is a great guy and the staff are terrific. Thank you el rancho!
